While the IAC has only been around since 2018, it draws on 23 years of rich tradition. One such tradition includes the volunteer work from the IA community to plan and staff the conference.
This gives the conference an accessible and homegrown feel. However it also presents a challenge for organizers and part-time volunteers. The conference provider, led by Vanessa Foss of Kunverj, commits to giving the organizers resources to make the conference better. One of these is the IAC Advisory Board.
The IAC Advisory Board provides a long-term counterpart to the conference co-chairs. The co-chairs serve for one year to organize the conference for that year. Two challenges for the co-chairs, and the conference in general, are lack of continuity year to year and long-term conference development. The advisory board focuses on these needs.
