Stop wrestling with organizational chaos. This session will prove how a strategic, user-centered taxonomy is a powerful tool for civic clarity and public trust.

Our talk, “Crash Course or Crash Out,” details the challenging journey of reimagining the Information Architecture (IA) for the TCEQ website. The original site was an extreme case of internal IA, using jargon and nested pages that created a dangerous civic barrier to vital safety information.

As a new IA practitioner, I’ll discuss how we successfully leveraged deep listening and user journeys to shift the system to a confident, task-based, audience-aware taxonomy.

Join us to immediately gain the practical frameworks and hard-earned lessons from this project. Attendees will leave equipped with techniques to audit any complex content ecosystem and will understand how to transform their IA practice into a strategic tool for accessibility and public empowerment. You don’t need to be an expert to make a profound impact.
