AI Essentials for IA and UX practitioners

Many of us are now using Generative AI-powered assistants in some aspects of our work. Yet those publicly available LLM-based tools are only one component of a vast field of AI technologies. As UX and IA practitioners, we are increasingly called on to join development teams in the creation and refinement of AI tools in our organizations and with our clients. We can be the voice for responsible, human-centered AI, and we have the potential to shape critical decisions about the design of these next-generation tools. This demands more from our role on projects. As AI is embedded into enterprise tools and moving toward agentic uses, our foundational knowledge of “AI” needs to consider its forms, applications, future directions, and implications. In this workshop, we work together to consider our IA/UX methods, how we ask questions within project teams, and explore how our roles are evolving.
