Revisiting, Reviewing, and Revising Taxonomies
April 22, 2022

Taxonomies are not new. In fact, many are old, out of date, and not appropriate for new needs. It’s becoming more common to adapt and revise and existing taxonomy than to create one from scratch. This session will examine various cases and examples of excerpts of poorly designed taxonomies and discuss how they can be improved. Topics will include concept label wording and unambiguity, use of alternative labels, hierarchy depth and detail, use of polyhierarchy, and any other features.
