Intro to Artificial Intelligence

The tools and talk around AI are changing rapidly. This practical workshop for IA/UX practitioners takes a broad view – history and now – to increase your knowledge and confidence as members of a team creating human-centered, responsible AI systems. Everyone can gain something. You do not need to be working on AI projects yet or have AI experience to participate.

In this workshop we explore various types of AI systems, how they work, their applications and implications, and how to safeguard accuracy and ethics. We’ll discuss the roles that IAs might play on teams, such as revising your taxonomies for machine use, conducting red team risk reviews, designing interfaces, crafting/reviewing knowledge graphs, or even assessing performance of agents. A range of examples and group activities will help us explore the AI+IA landscape together.
