Kirstin Swagman
Kirstin Swagman is Vice President for Web Strategy and User Experience at Carnegie, where she helps colleges and universities create compelling, sustainable websites.
Kirstin’s professional journey has taken her from newsrooms as a journalist to field sites as an anthropologist, and finally to the world of web strategy. This background allows her to look at the web through an ethnographic lens, blending hard data with human stories to build digital experiences that actually stick.
Before joining the team at Carnegie, Kirstin spent a decade at the University of Nevada, Reno, managing web content and marketing communications. Kirstin holds a Ph.D. in linguistic anthropology and a bachelor’s degree in journalism—a combination that makes her just as comfortable with data and analytics as she is with culture and conversation.
