(To report a safety issue, skip to Have a Safety Concern?, below.)
The IAC is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment in which to gather, share, and grow as a community of students, academics, practitioners, and friends of the field of Information Architecture.
Ensuring that our community is as diverse and inclusive as possible takes planning, outreach, engagement, and hard work. It is the responsibility of everyone in the community to work towards its betterment, and it’s a responsibility the IAC takes seriously.
When we gather together, be it in-person or virtually, it is essential that all members of our community feel safe and secure. This includes first timers, veteran attendees, students, presenters, sponsors, organizers, volunteers, or participants from IA-adjacent communities.
A safe environment is more welcoming and productive, enabling us to learn more, do more, and enjoy more time together as a community.
Have a safety concern?
The entire IAC22 team is committed to creating and maintaining safe spaces. If you have experienced or observed a safety issue, please let us know so that we can address the issue immediately. There are multiple options for reporting a safety concern:
- Complete the Safety Issue Report form
- Message the Safety & DEIB Team on Discord: #Safety-DEIB
- Send an email to codeofconduct@theIAconference.com
- Call the IA Conference number: (240) 245-0758
You can also reach out directly to this year’s Safety Director & DEIB Team Lead, Jeff Pass (Discord: @Jeff Pass), as well as the IAC22 Co-Chairs, Advisory Board, and our event planning partners at Kunverj. Or, any IAC22 volunteer can help you or point you to the reporting options.
IA Conference Scholarship Program
The IAC wants to make the conference more accessible to people of diverse backgrounds. Each year, the IA Conference Scholarship Program actively recruits and provides scholarships to students from backgrounds underrepresented at the IA Conference to assist them with attending the IA Conference and leadership positions within the IA community.
