What happens when a senior designer is ready to move up to the next level? What are the skills needed to become a lead designer, team leader or manager? How do they differ to being a designer on the tools?
About 5-7 years into a user experience design career, many designers start considering the next steps. Should they stay as a practitioner, move into Operations or start managing people?
The skills that made them successful in a senior practitioner role are not the ones they need to use to move into a leadership role. They need to be broadened to include more influencing, directing and influencing.
In this workshop, Mags Hanley will take senior designers through the four new groups of skills they need to develop to move to the next level.
We will look past their technical design skills to explore skills in Practice, Strategy, People and Business that they need to develop to lead projects, practice or people.
