Organizations are increasingly turning to taxonomies and ontologies as foundational elements for resolving pressing business challenges through semantic search solutions, recommendation engines, and larger AI strategies. Given the drive to integrate AI strategy into organizational roadmaps, it is critical to understand how to effectively design and leverage these semantic models to fast track to efficient and intelligent information management systems. Taxonomists and ontologists must continue to adapt their skills to lead identification of business problems that can be addressed through semantic capabilities, analyze and map data across systems, optimize modeling of semantic models to accurately represent the business’ main concepts, and understand the set of technologies that support the implementation of AI solutions.
For this session, EK Consultants, Tatiana Cakici and Sara Mae O’Brien-Scott will draw on their experience leading organizations through the complexities of building semantic solutions to bring to life best practices and proven methodologies for progressing an organization’s ability to leverage AI through taxonomy and ontology. They will discuss common use cases and applications of knowledge graphs that leverage well-designed taxonomies and ontologies to enable successful AI solutions. Additionally, participants will learn practical design considerations, design methods, and best practices to build taxonomies and ontologies for knowledge graphs. Participants will leave the session with an understanding of how taxonomies and ontologies accelerate an organization’s AI capabilities to support an advanced search experience.
Tatiana Baquero Cakici is a Senior KM consultant at Enterprise Knowledge (EK) with extensive experience in the design of enterprise taxonomy and metadata management solutions to support the implementation of KM and information management platforms. She excels at designing and conducting taxonomy, metadata design and governance workshops to effectively manage corporate content and improve enterprise search. Tatiana developed the Taxonomy Training Program and co-developed the Ontology Training Program at EK to certify junior, mid-level, and senior-level consultants. She also co-developed the Knowledge Graph University (KGU) program at EK to provide advance knowledge and expertise to prepare organizations for Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.
Sara Mae is a Senior Semantic Engineering Consultant at Enterprise Knowledge who specializes in metadata, taxonomy, ontology, and knowledge graphs. She has designed knowledge models for a diverse range of industries, including transportation engineering, game engineering, finance, retail, and healthcare. These models have powered solutions like content tagging, semantic search, and recommendation engines for numerous organizations across public and private sectors. She understands information to be a critical asset, and is passionate about using semantic technologies to help organizations better leverage this asset.
