Helping Humans do Information Architecture

The interpersonal aspects of our work can be messy, and we often think of them as an annoyance or distraction. But cultivating these skills in the age of AI presents an opportunity: machines can’t manage the emotions and organizational context of getting work done, but humans can. Honing the people management skills that wrap around our work as IAs will be increasingly valuable as technical aspects of our work become automated.

Emily will share strategies for helping others understand the value of our work whether they are clients, stakeholders, or members of cross-functional teams. She’ll share practical strategies for helping others understand what the process of “doing IA” looks like, how our work helps them reach their goals, and how to manage the anxiety, conflict, and uncertainty that often gets in the way of doing good work.
