Empowering IAs for Trustworthy AI
Trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) systems require information architects (IA’s) who are empowered to advocate for user-centered design. Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) systems have been found to be helpful in summarizing articles, writing emails, and generating code, and interactions with GenAI systems have increased our awareness of the capabilities and usefulness of AI, as well as the challenges. We can build on decades of practice designing systems that work with, and for humans, and we can add new skills to make trustworthy software connecting us to these powerful systems. As new systems continue to be developed, the role of IA’s and other data related roles will increase in significance and ensure that the systems augment human abilities rather than replace them. These are huge challenges and working together we can make more trustworthy, human-centered, and responsible AI systems.
