We’re pleased to announce the IAC20 Scholarship Program.

The IA Conference wants to make the Information Architecture Conference more accessible to people of diverse backgrounds.

The IA Conference Scholarship Program is actively recruiting and providing scholarships to students from backgrounds underrepresented at the IA Conference to assist them with attending the IA Conference and leadership positions within the IA community. Application deadline is February 21, 2020 at 5:00pm PST / 6:00pm MST / 8:00pm EST

2020 Scholarship Application is now open. Apply at scholarships@iainsitute.org

Find out more about the program on the IAC20 Scholarship Program page.

Chiara Ogan

Chiara has been working as a user experience designer and information architect for over 20 years. She started out as a librarian and quickly moved into information architecture. She’s worked as both an “innie” as the information architect for Peoplesoft.com and as an “outie” at Argus Associates and Adaptive Path. For the last 10 years she’s been an independent consultant at 3 Cats Studio. She considers herself a UX design generalist that goes deep in IA and user research. She especially enjoys working with smaller organizations on their web strategy, helping them to know their users, and designing new systems that will help them meet their needs.

Cassini Nazir

Cassini Nazir is a designer of conversations, curricula, and interfaces.

He is a Program Director and Clinical Associate Professor in New College at the University of North Texas where he teaches classes in design thinking and interaction design.

In spring 2020, he was Designer-in-Residence for the SMU Masters in Design and Innovation (MADI) program.

Prior to joining UNT, Cassini taught at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he directed two research labs. He was founding director of the ATEC Usability Lab, which fosters collaborative research with community partners and offers experiential learning to students. He was Director of Design for the ArtSciLab, a transdisciplinary research lab helping the arts, science, and technology communities by pursuing initiatives of societal urgency and cultural timeliness.

His academic projects include collaborations with art historians, biochemists, brain scientists, futurists, materials scientists, new media artists, and a university press. He has worked with industry partners such as Intuit, Toyota, Sabre, DFW Airport, and projekt202.

He holds bachelor’s degrees in English Literature and Economics as well as an MFA in Arts and Technology.

MaShana Davis

Mashana doesn’t consider herself a true IA. But, she’s done a lot of work in this area and have rubbed elbows with the like. Her official title is Biomedical Librarian, but she’s really a Project Manager within the federal government. She’s spent the last 10 years developing and managing diverse technology projects for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library and groups at NIH.
