No more excuses. Give the business what they’re asking for.

This presentation addresses the persistent challenge design organizations face in demonstrating the return on investment (ROI) of user experience (UX) design and introduces a powerful solution: Information Architecture (IA) analytics.

Attendees will learn how UX and product designers can collaborate with IA specialists to measure user and business impact. The session highlights thought-leading research into IA structure analytics–the practice of isolating the impact of structural design on key user and financial metrics that matter to business stakeholders.

Quantifying information architecture has historically been complex, preventing teams from assessing the impact of UI and UX design. To address this gap, an IA-based metamodel framework will be demonstrated to show how to quantify IA and establish a basis for measurement. The presentation will cover IA structural properties and their relevance in assessing data points correlating to structural integrity.

Attendees will learn how a new set of structural metrics and human-centered signals can create a structural baseline that is linked to core performance benchmarks such as debt, cost overruns, and revenue performance.

While some theoretical concepts will be introduced, the presentation is a practical demonstration of IA analytics, supported by visuals for actual projects.

Overall, participants can expect to acquire a cursory understanding of the evolving insights surrounding IA structure and IA analytics, which will equip them to take action and demonstrate UX design’s business impact with greater confidence.

It’s essential to understand that measuring the integrity of IA structure is the responsibility of IA practitioners. Quantifying IA structure to promote reliable outcomes and accountability is the last mile of effective IA practice. Early-career practitioners should be aware that IA analytics exist. Mid-career practitioners should seek greater exposure to IA analytics, and seasoned practitioners should implement IA analytics as a best practice and a primary approach to demonstrate business value.
