IAC23 Activities for First-Timers

Coming into a new community is hard. Don’t worry, we were all new here once. That’s why we have made it a core tenet of our community to welcome newcomers with open arms.

We’ve expanded the definition of “first-timer” to be anyone who has never attended an IA Conference in-person, since we have been online-only for 3 years.

First-timer orientation

Wednesday, March 29, 2023
5:30 – 6:00 PM CDT

If you are new to the IA Conference (IAC) in-person, this session is for you. Led by an experienced member of the IAC community, this session is meant to give you a broad overview of the whole event and how to make the best of it.

First-time attendees of the IAC are invited to attend a welcome meet & greet with experienced members of the IA community.

  • Meet other first-timers along with seasoned IAC attendees
  • Ask experienced attendees questions you have about the event
  • Meet your first conference friend
  • Connect with a potential mentor or a networking contact who knows people they can introduce to you

First-timer dinners

Wednesday, March 29, 2023
7:30 – ??? PM CDT

Get to know other first-timers and meet IAC veterans over dinner. Each dinner is hosted by two long-time members of the community.

The reservations are made and all you have to do is cover your food and drinks.

Space is limited. See March 14 email for details!

Contact info@theiaconference.com if you have any questions.

Online community

We know you’ll have questions as the conference goes on. We will send emails regularly about what to expect. For real-time information, please join or follow us:

Mastodon [https://mastodon.social/@theiaconf]

Twitter [https://twitter.com/theiaconf].

Registered attendees will receive an email invitation to the IAC23 Discord which will be used during the conference for up-to-date communications as well as for communicating with conference attendees, speakers, and volunteers – before, during, and after the conference.

Feel free to post questions about what to expect in one of those places or email info@theiaconference.com for questions.

Sponsor IAC

We’re looking for organizations who share our commitment to building and sustaining programs that drive a more inclusive industry. Learn more on the Sponsor IAC23 page or contact us directly at info@theiaconference.com for more information.
