Coming into a new community is hard. Don’t worry, we were all new here once. That’s why we have made it a core tenet of our community to welcome newcomers with open arms.
We’ve expanded the definition of “first-timer” to be anyone who has never attended an IA Conference in-person, since we have been online-only for 3 years.
First-timer orientation
Wednesday, March 29, 2023
5:30 – 6:00 PM CDT
If you are new to the IA Conference (IAC) in-person, this session is for you. Led by an experienced member of the IAC community, this session is meant to give you a broad overview of the whole event and how to make the best of it.
First-time attendees of the IAC are invited to attend a welcome meet & greet with experienced members of the IA community.
- Meet other first-timers along with seasoned IAC attendees
- Ask experienced attendees questions you have about the event
- Meet your first conference friend
- Connect with a potential mentor or a networking contact who knows people they can introduce to you

Registered attendees will receive an email invitation to the IAC23 Discord which will be used during the conference for up-to-date communications as well as for communicating with conference attendees, speakers, and volunteers – before, during, and after the conference.
Feel free to post questions about what to expect in one of those places or email info@theiaconference.com for questions.
