The Information Architecture Conference (IAC) is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment in which to gather, share, and grow as a community of students, academics, practitioners, and friends of the field of Information Architecture.
Ensuring that our community is as diverse and inclusive as possible takes planning, outreach, engagement, and hard work. It also requires a safe spaces where we can come together. It is the responsibility of everyone in the community to work towards its betterment, and it’s a responsibility the IA Institute (IAI) and IAC take seriously.
We’re currently assembling our team of volunteers from the community. We’ll soon introduce our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) co-directors and describe some of the DEI initiatives we’re undertaking this year.
IA Conference Scholarship Program
The IAC wants to make the conference more accessible to people of diverse backgrounds. Each year, the IA Conference Scholarship Program actively recruits and provides scholarships to students from backgrounds underrepresented at the IA Conference to assist them with attending the IA Conference and leadership positions within the IA community.
The Scholarship Program has three primary purposes:
- Nurture and sustain the professional development of our scholars.
- Establish a network of scholars who become mentors to other promising newcomers
- Support the information architecture and user experience design communities.
Each scholar will:
- Attend the IA conference
- Take part in a special pre-conference introductory workshop and welcome to the conference.
- Have access to peer mentoring and a large alumni network.
Critical for long-term impact, the program offers continuing education and professional development opportunities foundational to obtaining leadership positions within the profession.
Scholarship Applications will open in January 2022. Questions? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
